The Jocelyn Herbert Post Doctoral Fellowship at the University of the Arts London and the National Theatre has been created to develop and undertake an agreed post-doctoral project which is centred on research into the Jocelyn Herbert Archive.
The second Jocelyn Herbert Fellow will be appointed in October 2017. For more information and to apply please go here.
The first Jocelyn Herbert Fellow, Eleanor Margolies, is looking at the importance of scale models in Jocelyn Herbert’s practice, and at her participation in discussions about the design of the Oliver Theatre as a member of the National Theatre Building Committee in the 1960s. She is also exploring the influence of different elements of Herbert’s training – as a painter with André Lhote in Paris, and then in set design, first with Vladimir Polunin, and later at the London Theatre Studio with Motley and Richard Southern https://fromthejocelynherbertarchive.com/
